Fictiorama, the makers of the brilliant Dead Synchronicity, now challenge you to become a professional voyeur. As the newest member of the Primate Observation Club, your job will be to spy, through hacked security cameras, on different locations and the behaviour of their respective inhabitants, the protagonists of dozens of stories that include humour, drama, social awareness and even science fiction events.
After its great success on Steam, Do Not Feed The Monkeys will debut on PlayStation 4 on August 27th in digital format and in two physical editions, by Alawar Premium and Badland Publishing. A standard edition and a spectacular Collector’s Edition that will include, in addition to the physical game, an exclusive notebook, badge and T-shirt. All inside in a retro-style box inspired by the monitor from which the game is played.
Although the rules of the Primate Observation Club clearly specify that you should not interact with the subjects you are watching, it will not be easy for you to resist the temptation as you gather information from their conversations, as well as from the elements around them. From witnessing a car being run over at a gas station to stopping the thief who is tormenting a 24-hour store employee.
How can you stay out of it when you witness a paparazzi stealing intimate photos of a big screen star, or when a certain old man bears a more than reasonable resemblance to a certain dictator who everyone thought was dead? You will not just have access to a growing number of surveillance cameras from your monitor, you can log into your computer’s browser to get more information on each subject, and you can even record videos to send to a certain sensationalist TV program to earn a few extra dollars.
Money is important, because in Do Not Feed The Monkeys you’ll have to worry about the health of your character, which has a hunger meter and a sleep meter. Buy coffee to keep him awake and food to keep him from fainting. And you’ll also have to find jobs to raise the money for the rent, because your landlord will not hesitate to kick you out of the apartment if you fall behind on your payments.
Believe it or not, a voyeur’s life can be frantic. Calculate well the hours you invest in your jobs and the hours you spend sleeping, because you could miss crucial events that will unfold from your computer screen. And if that’s not enough, the rules of the Club require you to add more and more cameras to your screen as the days go by, multiplying the stories that will be running before your eyes simultaneously.
Original, fun and full of surprises, Do Not Feed The Monkeys will leave a mark on you. From 27 August you can enjoy it in both physical and digital format, on PlayStation 4. Don’t be shy: we all like to peep at our neighbours.
